Panchmel Dal Recipe


Green gram (Moong Dal) :- 50 Gms

Urad Dal   :- 50 Gms

Arhar Dal :-    50 Gms

Horse beans (Channa Dal) :-   50 Gms

Cumin seeds (jeera)  :-   ½ tsp

Asafetida (hing) :-     a pinch

Red chili powder (lal Mirchi):-   1 tsp

Salt (Namak) :-11/2 tsp

Garam Masala         (Spice blend)   :-  ½ tsp

Lemon (Nimbu):-  1 nos

Turmeric powder (haldi)  :-   ½ tsp

Clarified butter (ghee)  :-   2 tbsp

Coriander (Dhania)  :-   1 tbsp

Coriander powder (Dhania powder)  :-  1 tsp

Method Of Preparation

1)   Take all the Dal and wash them over water properly.

2)   Keep them soaked in water for close to half an hour

3)   Take pressure cooker and boil them along with spice blend, turmeric powder and salt.

4)   Once cooked, remove from flame.

5)   Take a pan, put some ghee in it. Once heated splutter asafetida and cumin seeds in it.

6)   To this add coriander powder, red chili powder and then the Dal.

7)   Garnish the daal with coriander leaves.

8)   Add lemon juice. Serve it hot.
